Circadian Rhythms?

Every organism, we are told, has an internal clock that regulates its biological cycles, functions such as body temperature, appetite and sleep vs. wakefulness.  Unfortunately, in most humans, these clocks do not follow a single master clock, as much as organized society would like them to.  The majority live in a 9-to-5 world; however, there are those of us whose clocks run to one or the other side of that "ideal".  These deviant individuals are treated as pariahs by normal folks.  For example, the term "graveyard shift," as if one needed to be some kind of zombie or gravedigger (or graverobber for that matter) if one doesn't follow the established norm.

Isn't time simply nature's way of keeping everything from happening at once?

Is it a construct invented by three-dimensional beings to cope with a four-dimensional universe?

Or is it simply the Persistence of Memory?

If you had a real web browser, you would see Dali's painting here.

Why should we be in such desperate haste to succeed and in such desperate enterprises?  If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.  Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. --Henry David Thoreau, Walden
